What is course migration

Modified on Thu, 22 Feb at 8:27 AM

We regularly review our courses to make sure they are relevant, effective and compliant. If we need to update a course, the course is retired and migrated to a new version.

In most cases this happens automatically, shortly after a new version of the course is released. In some cases - such as for SCORM users or if you have a customised version of the course - this will not happen. You can speak to your account manager to organise course migration.

When a course is migrated to a new version, the Learner’s results are listed on the Course reports page. Learners who have not yet completed the course will have to start the new version from the beginning to make sure they understand all of the new course content. For completed courses, an icon next to the Course name shows this result is for an earlier version of the training.

Course certificates can be downloaded and printed in the usual way and will show the course title for the earlier version.

Note Your overall compliance will not be affected by a course retirement.

Does this affect my Smart enrolments?

No. Smart enrolments let you automate enrolment by linking a course to a segment. If a course is migrated to a new version, the LMS automatically copies any Smart enrolment links to the new version of the course.

Does this affect my Documents & policies?

No. Documents & policies lets you link resources to a course. If a course is migrated to a new version, the LMS automatically copies resource links to the new version of the course.

What do my Learners see?

The Learner’s results are listed in their training history with an icon under the Score heading to show this score is for an earlier version of the training. Course certificates can be downloaded and printed in the usual way and will show the course title for the earlier version. If Learners are migrated to the new version of a course they will lose access to the retired course resources and content.
